TRITEC Building Company has recently broken ground on a new Student Center for Saint Anthony\'s High School in Huntington, New York. The Student Center is a multi-level, 145,000 square foot Athletic and Arts facility designed by Baldassano Architecture and HOK Sport. The building is a pre-engineered steel structure with masonry, insulated metal panel, translucent panel and glass curtain wall as the facade. The overall footprint of the facility is approximately 320 ft. long by 220 ft. wide with a ceiling height of 30 ft.
Custom features and accommodations of the building include a state of the art track and field facility, permanent grandstands, 3 practice basketball courts, multiple locker rooms, a Wrestling Room, Choral Rehearsal room, Band Rehearsal room, Dance Studio and multiple Multi-purpose Rooms. The lower level features a sophisticated waffle slab concrete ceiling to accommodate the significant load from the facilities above. The Student Center will be connected to the school by a common corridor and has a tunnel that provides a dramatic entrance to the outdoor playing fields from the locker rooms on the lower level.
The facility will replace the schools existing locker rooms, which will provide additional student features including a Concession Facility, Team Store, Athletic Therapy and Treatment accommodations, additional bathrooms, and storage.
Construction is expected to be completed in December 2008.
